Maritza teaches Spanish Language and Literature at Ladue Horton Watkins High School in Saint Louis, Missouri. Maritza has a B.A. degree in Spanish from Oklahoma State University, a M.A. degree in Education from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota and an Ed.D. in Social Justice from the University of Missouri in Saint Louis. Maritza is the 2021 American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) president. She is an AP Spanish Language and Literature consultant for College Board. She is a co-author of the Spanish Language textbook, EntreCulturas 1. In 2012 she was named Texas Foreign Language Teacher of the year.
